Born and raised in Sudbury, Suffolk, listening to and buying great tunes from the very early 80's to today. Moved to Amsterdam in 1985 for 2-years where I worked in Club Escape helping build and design their state of the art lighting shows. Heading to Australia in 1989 for a 1-year holiday, where, amongst other things, I got a weekend gig at Players Nightclub in Bondi Beach. That years holiday was now over 32-years ago and i'm still here doing the odd live gig here and there, and finally radio beckons. Those that know me will tell you music is my life, in particular anything Jazz, Funk, Soul or Disco.

always start off with I am not a DJ. I have not grown up DJing at gigs or pubs or clubs or anything like that. Somehow I was invited to ‘present’ a show on a local community station in Essex which gave me the bug for radio broadcasting. Being dragged up in Romford, the birth place of the original Soul Boy, and Perm! While also having an older brother into the scene at the time Jazz funk/Soul was the norm in our house. To be able to present a soul show is a privilege and a pleasure I absolute love. Come and join me every Saturday and Sunday morning 7-9am and I’ll get you out of bed, get you to work or get you home if you had an all nighter. There’s nothing better than any listener messaging and saying ‘haven’t heard this for ages, love it’ or ‘never heard this before what is it’ means we’re doing something right. Come along with me and I’ll bring back the memories of when music was and still is the best and had the fashion to match. You know your in the right place

Peterborough born and bred I have spent the last 45 years living in Suffolk. My first steps as a wannabe DJ came in '72 at the local Youth Club where I stood in for the resident while he went to the loo, twenty minutes later I was still playing as he had been side tracked and I was hooked. The Northern scene had just taken off and I went to various All Nighters buying a few records along the way until a brief career in the Merchant Navy took me round the world before I left and found myself here. A different Youth Club, then mobile - doing all the gigs which served as an apprenticeship - followed by residencies before getting married and giving it all up! Lured back a few years later to play some Old School Soul nights and playing a bit of Northern along the way the offer of internet radio came along in 2013 and I've been there ever since with the occasional Soul Night to keep my hand in.DJ Fish, a long time friend from here, suggested me for a couple Ofshow and here I am. Join me for 'Too Darn Soulful' on Wednesdays & Thursdays from 10pm. where I'll scrape the dust off a few and offer up some background too, I'm no expert but I know what I like and hope you will like it too.

I started djing with my brother Steve in late 70,s doing mobiles then realised my genre was Jazz Funk, Soul and Disco. So I started playing at venues on my own , expanded to nightclubs having residential nights all over London etc. I then became involvedl In Radio doin mixes for various djs .I'm still djing now doing Soul,Funk gigs.iplay Jazz Funk Soul and Disco Grooves and old skool house and soulful house.

It all began in 1978 when I first met the late great Tom Wilson. Tom took me under his wing and showed me how to become a competent DJ. Whilst training as an electrician, every bit of spare time was filled working with Sweet Inspiration mobile discos where I learned how to do a range of gigs from weddings, engagement parties, working pubs and clubs etc. I was also given the opportunity to assist Tom to run Oscars Soul Club in Edinburgh. I also did a couple of shows on Pirate Radio.

I worked as a DJ until 1991 but my passion and love of jazz, funk soul and disco never dwindled during this time and I continually added to my vast vinyl collection.

The highlight of my musical career was meeting Rick James in Los Angeles in 1981 whilst staying at the same hotel. A totally unforgettable experience.

It's a great opportunity to be given a chance to share my love and knowledge of music with a radio audience.

Meet Our Soul Family

Born in London but having spent my formative years in Stevenage, I have been a soul boy since the very early eighties (stay press trousers, piped jeans, Pringle Jumper, soul belt and the rest).I have spent the decades since listening to and discovering the massive spectrum of Soul Music. Listening to radio shows; reading various magazines, such as Blues and Soul and the back of numerous record sleeves; have all fuelled my passion and hunger to discover even more.

I first put my record collection and knowledge to good use at the ripe old age of 40, by buying the necessary equipment and getting on the decks at various parties and fund-raising events, all with a soulful theme.Soul music is so varied, with many different avenues, but with one main thing for me that makes it soulful is if it literally touches my soul and makes me feel good.I only made my presenting debut in August 2019, with no previous broadcasting experience and I consider it one of the best things I have ever done as “ I am so privileged to be able to play the music I love, to a radio audience.”There is nothing complicated or pretentious about me or my shows, I’m only there as a conduit, it’s all about the music not me, so join me for The Soul, The Whole Soul and Nothing But The Soul.

Malcolm Aubrey

My Name is Malcolm Aubrey! I was first introduced to Soul music at a very young age, my father was always playing Jazz, Funk and Soul tunes in the house, and it helped when his brothers were also DJ`s in the States and would send over white labels and imports before they reached the shops over here. I liked what I heard, one of the tunes sent to me from my uncle was Soul Power 74 on a 7" by Maceo and the Macks and it is still one of my favorite tunes in my collection. That is when I decided I wanted to play tunes. My first party I played at was when i was 11 years old and I loved it. I then started playing at a Thursday night youth club and school parties and college disco`s. My first big gig was playing on the island of Rhodes in Greece, only went there for a holiday and ended up playing there on and off for 12 years and loved every minute of it. I had a regular bar and night club playing Jazz, Funk and Soul and I also had my own radio show as well during the day. Being back here in this country I have had the privilege of playing at various events around the country, the one event I look forward to every year is playing at Summer Soulstice - I was invited to play there with an excellent team of DJ`s 6 years ago and love it. My style of music has changed over the years. Now I like playing Soulful House, Latin Beats afro house and anything FUNKY!! My favourite DJ is the one and only Louie Vega.

Craig Jardine

I am originally from the Glasgow area and moved to Ayrshire in 1974. As a child I would sit enjoying listening to Radio rather watching too much TV and with being at a young age radio was my turning point and that's when I wanted to be involved within the music industry. I have been a DJ for many years covering a wide range of music from nightclubs to cafe bars, to pubs, and done corporate events just to name just a few, as well as DJ.ing overseas. I have worked in many areas of the industry including backstage tech crew aiding famous artists and actors. I also have a vast experience working in retail music stores.. I have also been involved in presenting on Hospital Radio & many others in the past.. I specialise in many genres of Soul within the Soul scene,

Started to DJ when I was at school doing family and friends birthdays and at that time had a Citronic twin record deck. Yes I started on vinyl (slate). Leaving school I started to continued to grow my mobile disco and playing around with sounds and visuals. Having an interest in electronics and audio I created a road show using projection techniques and it was then I discovered Jean Michel Jarre. He inspired me even more with his shows to add more into mine, with at one point I built a 13 foot man for a fashion show and adding music and fx lighting. From here my show started to grow to at one stage doing events with lighting and music for companies like Jaguar, Fiat, Nissan to name a few. The side of my dj shows changed as well taking a keyboard along with my road show. From here I ended up being a Dj in clubs in east sussex and kent as well as fantastic venues like Leeds castle, Herstmonceux Castle and the Savoy London. Always at the back of my mind the lighting and creativity side of me wanted to do more, so with some friends of mine we created a projector screen so big we had to make it on a football pitch. On this I created a dj show with a live orchestra and 6 projectors.

Moving quickly to 2023 I have created a small studio where I now produce my own music that is available on all major streaming sites. My Lighting shows have now grown into multi RGB lasers in sync with music, as well as large searchlights and moving heads.

I am mainly a Producer/ Dj Laser artist and thank Getyagrooveon Radio supporting my music and look forward to entertaining you the listeners with my Remixes of Soul, Funk, Disco and EDM.

I am from the North West of England. I've been collecting and listening to music since the early 80s, influenced by soul music played on radio back then from Richard Searling, Robbie Vincent, Andy Peebles, along with the underground stations back then, plus the amazing venues and soul weekender

Shaping the love of this music into my favourite genres Rare Groove, 2 step, 70s Modern/ Crossover and 80s/90s independent /contemporary mellow soul. The passion for this music is still present today and will never go away. I just love soul music. Today's midtempo music is just unbelievable even with the change from major to independent labels to now artists bringing the music out themselves via the digital age. I love my vinyl, however the key is not the format anymore it is ensuring that the music is quality with a Capital Q.I have my regular venue which I DJ at, along with guesting at weekenders and other gigs.I've been in radio in some format since the late 80s and in last decade now presenting my own shows. It's an honour to be on this station playing this amazing music. If you love your warm, sophisticated and mellow midtempo tunes. Looking at classics, rare and underplayed from these beautiful music genres, then please hop on and take a ride with me looking at a journey of Soul Across The Decades from the late 60s to the present day and beyond.

From being a schoolboy and spending almost every penny in Black Wax Records in Streatham, buying the latest 7 inch import singles, to now, soul music has always been my passion.

From the early days of doing mobile discos, weddings, birthdays, youth and social clubs, to playing some of the top nightclubs in London, and despite hanging the headphones up on a few occasions, the passion has always been there.

All these years later and to now have the opportunity to play the music I love, for people who love the music, it doesn’t get much better than that.

My Love for music is in my DNA, with my father and grandfather both musicians, music would fill the house most days as a kid.

But my particular passion is for jazz funk, R&B soul and disco and stems back to the 70s & 80s when I grew up listening to legendary DJs such as Robbie Vincent, Steve Walsh, Jeff Young and Greg Edward’s on popular radio stations. But also, the pirate ones as well…. I even bought the t-shirts,,, and still do!!

My digital library consists of decades of collecting and I am looking forward to sharing them with you on my broadcasts with Getyagrooveonradio

I’ve always loved music, especially soul—it’s been part of my life since I was a kid. I spent hours in record shops searching for that perfect vinyl and tuning into pirate stations like LWR, Horizon, and TKO, which sparked my passion for collecting and recording music. As a teenager, I took things further and began DJing at local pubs. Over time, I worked my way into venues along the Old Kent Road, spinning records and sharing my love for soul with everyone. But when family life took over, my DJing took a back seat for 30 years. In 2023, I was given the opportunity to host my first radio show, so I took the plunge—and here we are. After all this time, I’m loving every minute of sharing music that truly moves the soul

I’ve always had a special love for music, especially soul. From buying my first vinyl as a teenager to spending hours listening to pirate radio stations, soul music has always been there for me. Fast forward to 2023, I got the chance to host a radio show. Now, I’m excited to share my love for soul music with you, one song at a time. Catch me live every Saturday 12 - 2pm right here on Getyagrooveon Radio
